SussexBancorp Financial Information & Privacy Notice

Our Promise To You

At SussexBancorp and our affiliated companies, such as SussexBank and Tri-State Insurance Agency, Inc., we understand how important your trust in us is. We understand that you demonstrate this trust every time you share personal financial information with us, and we want to ensure that you understand what information we gather about you, how we use it, and the procedures that we have in place to protect it and keep it confidential.

We do not rent or sell customer information to outside marketers. Sometimes we work together with other companies to provide products and services to you that we don't offer - products such as credit insurance. When we do this, we make available only the information these companies need to offer and administer these products. We are selective in choosing these companies and we require them to maintain controls designed to protect our customers' privacy. These companies are not permitted to use this information or to contact our customers for any other reason than to provide this specific product or services intended.

If you decide to close your account(s) or become an inactive customer, we will not disclose your non-public personal information except as permitted by the practices described in this notice.

We also exchange certain information about our customers with selected credit reporting agencies, when it is legally required (such in a response to a subpoena) and to prevent fraud or to comply with a legally permitted inquiry by a government agency or regulator.

Our Privacy Procedures

We maintain security practices and procedures designed to ensure the security, integrity and confidentiality of customer information. We restrict and limit employee access to customer information to only those employees who need such information as part of their job responsibilities. We train our employees on privacy and information security and on their obligation to keep customer information private.

What Information Do We Collect?

In order to offer you useful financial products and services and to better serve you, we may collect information from a number of different sources, including:

  • Information supplied by you on applications or other forms, such as your workplace, your income and investments, your financial goals, your address and phone number and similar information;
  • From your various account transactions, such as your account balances, payments, credit or debit card purchasing information, and insurance coverage or brokerage activity;
  • From sources such as consumer reporting agencies (for example, your credit history);
  • From third parties including demographic information, your purchases from other businesses and mailing lists; and

What Information Do We Share?

With our affiliates. We may share all of the types of information described above with our affiliates, i.e. any other companies owned by us or by SussexBank, such as Tri-State Insurance Agency, Inc.

Third party service providers. We may share some of your information with companies that perform services on our behalf (such as check printing companies and companies that provide loan closing services, such as title searches and appraisers) or with other companies with whom we have marketing agreements to provide you services we do not directly offer, such as insurance. We are highly selective when we choose these companies, and we restrict the information that we provide them to that which they need to provide their service. We require these companies to comply with strict standards of security and confidentiality, and they are not permitted to use any customer information for any other purpose.

Non-affiliated third parties. We may also disclose non-public personal information about you to certain third parties offering services which we believe may be of interest, such as financial service providers including mortgage bankers, home equity lenders, securities broker dealers and insurance agents and carriers, non-financial companies such as retailers, direct marketers, airlines and marketing research companies and other such as non-profit organizations.

Our policies regarding the collection, use and disclosure of information about former customers. Our policies and practices regarding the collection and disclosure of information about former customers are the same as those regarding the collection and disclosure about existing customers, at least for a period of time after a customer relationship ends. Our information about former customers, however, is ultimately removed from our records, at which time it is no longer used.

Your Choices

If you do not want us to share information related to your account with non-affiliates, please let us know by returning the "Opt Out" form included with this policy. We will be happy to comply with your "Opt Out" request. This request, however, will not apply to information about your transactions or experience with us (such as account information, account usage or payment history), which we are permitted by law to share with our affiliates.

Important Information About Procedures for Opening a New Account
To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, Federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person who opens an account.

What this means for you: When you open an account, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth, and other information that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask to see your driver’s license or other identifying documents. In some cases, identification will be requested for current account holders if original documentation was not obtained with the opening of the account. We ask for your understanding as we work to support these efforts to maintain the security of your funds and our country.
